So last week you saw Amber’s mini-update on the grossest bathroom in the world right? (Side note: I’ll actually miss the saloon doors. Sometimes I like to jump through them, with my hands in the shape of guns, and yell at Amber “I just peed!” No real reason why I think that’s so funny.)
Today’s update is even mini-er than last week’s. The subject is the blinds in the master bedroom. If I used one word to describe them, I’d say “gross.” If I used two words, “really gross.”
Above is the before photo (it’s difficult to photograph blinds, do forgive). I know they don’t look too bad here, but let’s zoom in…
There’s tons of 1980s metal miniblind crinkle action happening here. On top of that, though I believe at some point they were white, white is definitely not how I’d describe them now.
The blinds in the sitting area were in just as rough shape. Side Note: Yea we have a sitting area (that we’ve never sat in) with a fireplace (that we’ve never, uh…. fired) in our bedroom, what’s up America? Side Note 2: Who is that handsome human reflection in the mirror? I must find out.
So, you can probably guess what happened. We went to Home Depot and bought some new faux wood blinds. I put them in and voila… no more ghetto window action! Just so you know we had already done this in every other room in the house, we just like to neglect the entire master area. Honestly, we just close the door when people come over so it’s the easiest room to forget.
It made a huge difference. The room now just looks like it needs to be decorated. Oh well…. we’ll get to that soon enough.
So what do you think? Have you ever put off changing blinds because you wanted to do the whole room at one time? Do you miss the saloon doors in our bathroom as much as I do? Let us know!
Ha! We do the same thing for our master. The only thing we’ve purchased for it is a comforter. The master bath is just as bare. No one ever sees it so it’s not a high priority. And we actually sleep in the guest room.
Poor neglected masters. Oh well even if mine was decorated perfectly I would still hate to make the bed when people come over. 😉
Your hardwoods are absolutely beautiful! Mind telling me the brand/color/where you got them? Love your blog!
Hey Renee. The floors are solid oak, they were scraped and stained on site. The stain we used was a mix of 2 (60% espresso 40% ebony) stains.
If you’re looking for some floors, shoot amber an email at amber [at] willscasa .com and she can give you the number of the guy we used.
Thanks for reading!
