Have you been following along with Nursery week so far? For you new readers out there, here’s the deal: Amber is pregnant, but we’re not finding out the sex (also our new house won’t be finished in time, so having a nursery prepared isn’t an option). So this week we thought it’d be fun to each design 2 nurseries, one for a boy and one for a girl.
Amber started off with a boy nursery on Monday and I went yesterday with my boy nursery. Today I’m going first with my girl nursery. As I mentioned in my last post, I struggle with girlie objects, colors, etc. They’re not something I like personally (for obvious reasons), so it was a struggle.

Obviously I like for rooms to have an eclectic feel. A bunch of different styles and a lot going on. The base for this room would be the scalloped walls and the dwell studio rug. On top of that I layered most of the same existing things that we already owned and a bunch of other craziness. Maybe that will become our signature design style “A bunch of crap we own mixed with other craziness.”
Come back tomorrow to see what Amber comes up with. Are you as excited as I am?
this one is so fun- love the color pops! but where is the toile?
Ha. I knew I forgot something!
The gold is a nice “girlie” touch, well done. I love the print #2.
That print is actually hand screen printed with gold ink too… pretty awesome!
So this is how you roll without having the sandbagging luxury… I like it. There are a lot of similar things we’re doing for Evelyn’s nursery. Scallops being one. I’m definitely digging that rug though!
That rug is pretty choice. Its expensive, but the Crowders are made of money correct?
Great shade of pink, not too girly. We didn’t find out the sex of our toddler before she was born either, so her room is done in greens, blues, and oranges. Turns out, that’s exactly her personality anyway (she’s not very princess-y). Who knew?
Yea, I was looking for pink without being that shabby chic pink that permeates most girl rooms these days.
Decorating a room without knowing the sex is tough, we won’t start decorating until it’s 3 months old anyways so it won’t matter anyways, but I definitely empathise.
All three rooms so far have been adorable. Can’t wait to see Amber’s girl board!
Thanks dude! I think this looks like a nursery that a dude would design for a girl, but it’s not too off-putting in spite of that.
This is such a fun mood board. I love the floral sheet with everything else. Love the pouf. Can’t wait to see the second take on this as well. Love your jumping off pieces. They are just perfect!
Thanks Katja! Amber’s is going to be way better than mine I’m sure!
Yes Nick I did notice the cloud. (Grin)
I smirked pretty wide to myself when I threw that in there
