I love to give handmade gifts. I really do. BUT they usually require thought, planning, and more creativity than I can muster on an average day. However this simple DIY doll bedding has been on the to do list for longer than any blogger/mother should admit. Therefore I won’t admit it, and we can all just pretend I dreamed this up and immediately made that dream a handmade reality.
Simple Christmas Tablescape
As promised our Christmas tablescape! I wanted something super simple to fit in with the whole minimalistic vibe I’m throwing down in the dining room. Also this is our first Christmas in the new house, so I don’t feel like I need to shake up the Christmas decor too much. Might as well reuse what we have since the space is new, right?
DIY Hand Stitched Napkins
Admit it once you chewed that last piece of turkey, you immediately turned on Christmas music and let the flurry of the season commence. If you answered no to that hypothetical, then you aren’t a blogger. Or you are a crazy person who celebrates Christmas BEFORE Thanksgiving. Either way it’s all about Christmas now.
Thus my 2nd installment of Dare to DIY. This week is all about entertaining.
DIY Wishbone Napkin Rings
It’s my favorite time of year. It’s Dare to DIY time! Bonus I get to participate this year because I’m no longer homeless. Double win because Katja is a host! It truly is the most wonderful time of the year.
We are hosting Thanksgiving for both families at our casa this year, so no pressure or anything. I wanted to add a little DIY to the table because let’s be honest I will in no way be responsible for the makings of anything edible for the festivities. Thus my Thanksgiving contribution…drumroll… DIY wishbone napkin rings.
Fall in Love with Ramona’s Room
It’s finally here. All the instagram sneak peeks and late nights have lead to this moment. RAMONA’S BIG GIRL ROOM!!! Despite my 6 week deadline for the Fall in Love series, this was more of a 4 day scramble. Time management is not part of our skill set.
Last Minute Halloween Costume for Siblings: Literary Edition
Yesterday I realized I had a few days before Halloween, and I kinda freaked. I had just enough time to order something off Amazon, and it get here in time for the first of the Halloween festivities. I mean talk about cutting it close. Amiright? I had everything in my cart ready to hit “place your order” which totaled over $100 with everything I wanted or around $50 if I cut it back to the bare minimum.
Then something happened. I bailed. I decided to DIY an epic sibling Halloween costume that my kids would look back on with such love and respect toward their genius mother. Ok so that’s not going to happen, but I spent…$0 on their costumes and about 2 hours (because I have to photograph things for the blog). So be prepared to be impressed.
But First Coffee: Then Total Randomness Ahead
If you were wondering what has been happening around here, well then here’s the post for you. A little bit personal. A little bit craftish. A whole lot of random. The weather has been beautiful and the grass is so lush. We have been playing outside. What else is one to do?!? I mean it’s the best way to avoid doing anything around here. Let’s sit outside while you 2 play with wheeled toys.
Beckett got a ybike for his birthday, and it is awesome. It rolls like an IKEA shopping cart. He’s like a wild man pushing that thing around.
I got 99 problems and the exterior is pretty much the one that’s driving me crazy
I realize I’m about to write a blog post about 1st world problems to the extreme, but this is a blog about me and my general craziness which mainly revolves around my house. Thus I give myself permission for this.
We cut the landscaping out of the budget at the end of the build. I was thinking it would be easier to get someone to do all the work – clearing, dirt work, sprinklers, sod – rather than doing part of it via the builder. More work, more bargaining room, more incentive, right?? What a freakin’ joke. No one wanted to return my calls, give me a quote, or even make eye contact with me.
The Plans for Ramona’s Room
As you know, I’m doing the Fall in Love challenge with some besties which means that my daughter will finally have a big girl room. Ramona is a nearly 5 year old girl in 2014, so obviously her room is going to decorated with woven textures, gold, wicker, neon…the usual. Right now we are thinking that we will leave the walls white and decorate around that before we commit to any painting.
Fall in Love Series Announcement
You should know Nick and I are the worst procrastinators ever. Any time there’s the threat of public humiliation in the form of a deadline, things magically get done. Cassie, being the dreamer she is, wanted to pull off a giant fall series where a ton of really awesome blogger (I mean just look at that list up there) complete an entire room makeover in 6 weeks. She asked. I accepted, so now it’s time to fall in love with…
